BETWEEN:
YONATAN SIONOV
Applicant
- and -
THE MINISTER OF CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION
Respondent
REASONS FOR ORDER
REED, J.:
[1] This is an application for an order to set aside a decision of a visa officer that found the applicant only entitled to 61 units of assessment. In order to be granted permanent resident status in Canada a minimum of 70 points is required.
[2] The application contests the number of points awarded in a several categories particularly those relating to his ability in the English language (2 points given) and those given for his experience as a gusher cook (zero points given). It is asserted that he should have been awarded 6 points in each of the above-mentioned categories. It is also asserted that the points given for personal suitability (1 point given) does not accord with the applicant history and attitude.
[3] I have reviewed the file in accordance with the relevant jurisprudence and in the light of counsel's submissions and have not been persuaded that the decision is one that offends any of the provisions of section 18 of the Federal Court Act. An order will therefore issue dismissing the application.
