ASSESSMENT OF COSTS - REASONS
MICHELLE LAMY, ASSESSMENT OFFICER
[1] On May 27, 2003, the applicant completely withdrew its application for judicial review. Under Rule 402 of the Federal Court Rules, 1998, the respondents filed their bill of costs on July 9, 2003, and asked that the assessment be in writing. On August 29, we set a schedule for the filing of written submissions. To date the applicant has not submitted any document in opposition to this memorandum.
[2] In the circumstances, the respondents' fees requested under items 5, 6 and 25 are awarded in the amount of $715. However, I allow two units for preparation of the bill of costs under item 26, as this proceeding was not opposed.
[3] The disbursements incurred for costs of service ($112.89), printing ($54.24), photocopying ($76.25) and travel ($368.98) are also awarded.
[4] The respondents' costs are accordingly assessed in the amount of $1,547.36. A certificate is issued for that amount.
