Assessment Officer
[1] On July 24, 2000, the plaintiff, represented by Mr. Étienne Trépanier, filed his bill of costs pursuant to the order of the Court rendered on March 12, 1999, and asked that it be assessed without personal appearance of the parties. The defendant, Mr. Lavoie, had until September 15, 2000 to file written representations. To date, no representations have been received from him.
[2] In view of the foregoing and the criteria listed in subsection 400(3) of the Federal Court Rules, fees in the amount of $1,350.00 are awarded for services rendered under items 1 (5 units), 4 (3 units), 25 (1 unit) and 26 (4 units).
[3] The disbursement of $52.30 for process server's fees is awarded, as is the Equifax Canada bill in the amount of $423.72. The latter expenditure was occasioned by the plaintiff, in order to obtain some information on the defendant's solvency before suing in the Federal Court.
[4] The plaintiff's costs will therefore be assessed and allowed in the amounts of $1,350.00 for fees and $567.02 for disbursements. A certificate shall issue in the amount of $1,917.02.
