- and -
THE MINISTER OF CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION
Respondent
REASONS FOR ORDER
(Delivered from the Bench at Toronto, Ontario
on Wednesday, August 19, 1998)
STRAYER, J.:
[1] There is no basis for setting aside the decision of the visa officer refusing the applicant's application for permanent residence.
[2] With respect to the issue of language ability and personal suitability, I am satisfied that there was evidence before the officer upon which she could make the assessments she did and that there is nothing to indicate that they were made for irrelevant or improper reasons.
[3] With respect to the assessment of the applicant's occupational qualifications, the visa officer could only act on the information he provided in his application form and at the interview. She was obliged to assess him for the kind of work he said he sought to do in Canada and to fit his work intentions and qualifications within the categories of the CCDO. Having reviewed the material I am not persuaded that she committed any reviewable error in reaching the conclusions she did.
[4] The application will therefore be dismissed.
